My Mark on UCF

Why UCF?

Choosing the University of Central Florida was an easy decision for me because it offered everything I was looking for in a college experience. UCF’s rich diversity, culturally, academically, and socially, was a major factor. I wanted to attend a university where I could stay connected to my roots, feel a sense of community, and engage with people from all backgrounds. UCF has given me that and more.

Another reason I chose UCF is the university’s commitment to inclusivity and support. As someone with learning disabilities, I knew I needed a school that would not only understand my challenges but also actively help me succeed. From accessible academic resources to compassionate faculty, I’ve felt accommodated and empowered every step of the way.

Most importantly, UCF is helping me pursue my dream career in child and adolescent psychiatry. With so many opportunities for hands-on experience, mentorship, and academic exploration, I’ve been able to grow both personally and professionally. Whether it’s through research, volunteer work, or student organizations, UCF has given me the tools to make a meaningful impact in the field I’m passionate about.

My Journey with Knightraas

Joining KnightRaas, UCF’s collegiate garba raas team, has been one of the most meaningful parts of my college journey. As someone who grew up immersed in Indian culture and dance, KnightRaas has allowed me to stay connected to my roots while continuing my passion for performing. Being part of a community that celebrates tradition through high-energy, competitive dance has not only brought me closer to my culture but also helped me form lifelong friendships.

Now, I’m honored to serve on the KnightRaas executive board for the 2025–2026 season. In this leadership role, I’m excited to give back to the team that has given me so much and to help create the same welcoming, empowering environment for others. KnightRaas has been more than just a team—it’s been a second family and a reminder of where I come from, even as I grow into who I’m becoming.

My Role In Leadership Week

Serving as the Interactive Events Director for UCF’s Leadership Week in both 2025 and 2026 has been an incredibly rewarding experience. In this role, I’ve had the opportunity to design and lead events that bring students together in meaningful, hands on ways, whether through team building activities, leadership challenges, or creative workshops that inspire personal and professional growth.

A key focus of my work has been promoting mental health awareness and wellness. I believe that strong leadership begins with self-awareness and emotional resilience, so I’ve worked to incorporate mindfulness, open dialogue, and stress relief strategies into our events. From guided reflection spaces to interactive discussions on balancing leadership with well-being, I’ve aimed to create a supportive environment where students feel seen, heard, and empowered.

It’s been an honor to contribute to a week that not only celebrates leadership but also prioritizes mental wellness, and I’m proud to help shape a campus culture that values both.

Blending Culture and Impact

Being a part of UCF’s Indian Student Association has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my college journey. Through this organization, we’ve built more than just a student group, we’ve created a vibrant Indian community and support system on campus. Together, we celebrate our rich culture by hosting events for all major Indian holidays, from Diwali to Holi, allowing students to stay connected to their heritage while forming lifelong friendships.

As the Philanthropy Chair, I’ve had the unique opportunity to blend our cultural celebrations with meaningful philanthropic work. Whether it's organizing charity drives during festivals or pairing social events with causes that matter, I’ve been able to turn moments of joy into moments of impact. It’s incredibly rewarding to use this community not only as a space for cultural pride, but also as a platform to give back, both on campus and beyond.

Kappa Delta with Purpose

Joining Kappa Delta has been one of the most empowering decisions I’ve made at UCF. Through this sisterhood, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to work hand in hand with organizations like Girl Scouts and Prevent Child Abuse America, two causes that align deeply with my passion for uplifting and protecting youth.

From hosting confidence-building events for local Girl Scouts at our chapter house to actively fundraising for child abuse prevention, Kappa Delta has allowed me to make a real difference. One of the highlights of my involvement has been our campus-wide philanthropy event, KD Shakedown, a high-energy dance competition that brings the UCF community together for a powerful cause. This past year, we raised an incredible $157,951 for Prevent Child Abuse America.

Being a part of Kappa Delta has shown me how meaningful service, strong sisterhood, and purposeful leadership can come together to create lasting impact.
